Supertech’s 40-storey twin towers in Noida demolished

New Delhi, Aug 28 (AIR News): In Gautam Budh Nagar district, the nearly 100-metre-tall, 40 storey Supertech's twin towers- Apex and Ceyane, were demolished at 2.30 pm on Sunday in pursuance of Supreme Court's order.

Both the towers in Noida were reduced to dust in seconds. According to the demolition firm Edifice Engineering, over 3,500 kg of explosives were used to raze the twin towers.

Earlier, over five thousand people from Emerald Court and ATS Village societies near the Towers in Noida were evacuated as the impact of the demolition was likely to be maximum in and around these areas. The residents were provided temporary shelter at the Parsvnath Prestige Residential Complex in the area.

As precautionary measure, the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway was also shut between 2.15 pm and 2.45 pm for the demolition drive. A no-fly zone were instated over the city for drones.

On Friday, the Supreme Court assured the home buyers of the to-be-razed 40-storey twin-towers that they will be refunded the full amount deposited with the builder. Earlier, the Court had observed that building norms were violated by the builder.
