10323: Tripura HC's Full Bench dismisses plea of terminated teacher

Agartala, Sept 26: The full Bench of High Court of Tripura headed by Chief Justice A K Singh on Tuesday dismissed the plea of a terminated teacher from the 10,323 group and also imposed a fine on the petitioner.

This was for the first time that the High Court of Tripura conducted the whole proceeding in live streaming. Besides, it was also the first sitting of the Full Bench of the Tripura High Court.

After hearing the submissions of both the petitioner and respondent, the Full Bench comprising Chief Justice A.K. Singh, Justice T. Amarnath Gaud and Justice Arindam Lodh dismissed the plea. With this, the 10323 matter became a closed chapter.

The TOI reported that the Full Bench took a strong note of the practice of 10,323 teachers’ moving to courts time and again seeking clarification despite several clear and speaking orders regarding the termination of their service.

Addressing the reporters in this context, Advocate General Siddharth Shankar Dey said, “The hearing was held to address the plea made by one of the terminated teachers who questioned the process of termination. The petitioner claimed that he was not a party in the case where the recruitment rules were challenged”.

Meanwhile, the petition was filed by Pranab Deb, a member of the 10323 terminated teachers' group. The Full Bench slapped a fine of Rs. 25,000 on him.
