1,08,281 women under TRLM-run SHGs become 'Lakhpati Didis' in Tripura: CM

Tripura has marked a significant milestone towards realizing the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating Lakhpati Didis, with the state already achieved 95 percent of the total target.

As many as 1,08,281 women members under SHGs run by Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) have achieved the status of "Lakhpati Didi", Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha announced on Thursday.

He said, the figure is around 95 of the state's target for creating 1.14 lakh Lakhpati Didis.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the inaugural session of a  National Workshop on Integrated Farming Cluster for the North Eastern States in Agartala.

The Chief Minister in his address highlighted the state government's support to the SHGs, transforming the lives of rural women.

"In Tripura, 4.85 Lakhs women are the members of 54,113 Self-help Groups, 2470 Village Organisations, and 173 Cluster-Level Federations," he said.

For livelihood augmentation of these Self-Help Groups, 2628 Producer Groups and 118 Non-Farm Collectives have been developed in the state.

To ensure livelihoods for Women Self-Help Groups, Rs. 1677 Crore Bank loan and Rs. 787 Crore Revolving Fund and Community Investment Fund have been provided to all these institutions of women, Dr. Saha mentioned.

Secretary of Rural Development department Abhishek Singh and Chief Executive Officer of TRLM Tarit Kanti Chakma among other dignitaries including officials from the Ministry of Rural Development were present.
