1,615 teachers to be recruited in Tripura soon

In a significant stride toward strengthening the education infrastructure and tackling teacher shortages, Dr. Manik Saha-led Tripura government has approved the recruitment of 1,615 teachers.

Announcing the Cabinet’s decision, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that this massive recruitment drive aims to improve classroom teaching and provide a fresh impetus to quality education in the state.

A total of 915 Postgraduate Teachers (PGTs) will be inducted to teach students of Classes XI and XII. The subject-wise breakup includes: English (70), Kokborok (75), Bengali (50), History (71), Political Science (65), Philosophy (6), Geography (80), Sanskrit (20), Economics (80), Physics (55), Chemistry (59), Biology (45), Mathematics (50), Commerce (33), Sociology (70), and Psychology (86).

To further strengthen education at the secondary level, the Cabinet has also approved the recruitment of 700 Graduate Teachers for Classes IX and X.

“The Teacher Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT), will conduct the entire selection process. All appointments will be made on a fixed-pay basis,” Chowdhury stated.

In addition to the education sector, the Cabinet also approved filling up of six Dental Medical Officer posts through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC). 

Moreover, 37 key academic and administrative positions—including Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Deputy Registrar, and Assistant Registrar—will be filled at the National Law University, Tripura.
