Agartala, Aug 23: Tripura government has decided to set up 19 new Rural Development sub-divisions and 300 advanced education centres.
The decisions were taken in a meeting of the council of ministers on Tuesday, said ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
Briefing the media about other cabinet decisions, he said, 19 more Rural Development sub-divisions, four circles, and six working divisions would be created to speed up the rural development works.
The ICA minister also stated that 300 advanced education centres will be launched by the Tribal Welfare department across the state to impart quality education to the students of lower kindergarten to 5th standard.
Each centre would have at least 15 students and the teachers to be engaged in these centres would get remuneration at the rate of Rs. 215 per day (maximum 25 classes in a month). The education centres would be set up in mixed-populated villages and maximum three centres would be set up in one, Chowdhury said.
A draft policy for rehabilitation of 6,000 street children in different orphanages has also been approved by the state cabinet, he said, adding that the Social Welfare and Social Education department introduced the new policy.
According to a government press release, it was also decided by the state cabinet that within next few months these children would be given Rs. 4000 every month. He also said that there are 41 orphanages in the state wherein 843 children are sheltered and they would also be entitled to this benefit.
He said, after becoming the Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha has set a 100-day action plan with 254 points under 46 departments.
“By August end, 166 out of 254 points will be accomplished—the achievement is 63.33 per cent. The remaining target will be achieved by September end next with 93.30 per cent achievement, Chowdhury told the reporters.
