Two senior IAS officers from Tripura- Tarit Kanti Chakma and Saju Vaheed A joined a National Conference on Good Governance Practices organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances, Government of India, at Bhubaneswar, Odisha on Thursday.
They highlighted the good governance practices of the state in the national platform.
Tarit Kanti Chakma, former DM of Gomati and now CEO TRLM, was the second speaker in the opening session of the National Conference.
He highlighted the district’s remarkable achievement in receiving the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024, despite the challenges of its hilly and remote terrain.
Focusing on skill development, livelihood enhancement, and community participation, Chakma shared how the district implemented initiatives at the panchayat and anganwadi levels, ensuring grassroots involvement.
Under the PM Vishwakarma scheme, a total of 7,086 beneficiaries were enrolled, with 2,239 completing pre-basic training and 2,219 completing basic training. Furthermore, 150 candidates received entrepreneurship training under SANKALP Phase-II, fostering self-employment and building a resilient, skilled workforce in the region, he mentioned.
Saju Vaheed A., former Dhalai District Magistrate and currently holding charge of NHM Tripura Mission Director, highlighted the impactful social development initiatives undertaken in Ganganagar Block, which led to its recognition as an Aspirational Block and its selection for the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration.
He highlighted that the block achieved 100% saturation in 6 out of 13 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), reflecting the effectiveness of targeted interventions. A special mention was made of the creation of a climate-smart village, featuring waste segregation centres across the block, an initiative that has significantly improved solid waste management and environmental sustainability.
He noted, under NRLM/TRLM, rural households were mobilised into Self-Help Groups (SHGs), resulting in enhanced women’s empowerment, financial inclusion, and economic resilience. Additionally, the block focused on strengthening community infrastructure through credit linkages, capacity-building programs, and skill development initiatives, creating a solid foundation for long-term, inclusive growth.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi jointly released the e-Journal on Minimum Government, Maximum Governance (MGMG), featuring select initiatives received for the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2024.
