Agartala, Dec 09: The Ministry of Rural Development has approved 25 new road projects spanning 65.38 kilometres under the Road Connectivity component of the PM-JANMAN scheme, marking a major boost to rural road infrastructure in Tripura, particularly in 30 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
The projects involve an estimated investment of Rs. 68.67 crore.
According to a press release, this landmark initiative will ensure all-weather road connectivity to 30 habitations of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), significantly improving their socio-economic conditions.
The improved road network is expected to ease access to basic services such as healthcare, education, and markets for tribal communities residing in remote pockets of the state.
Beyond supporting tribal habitations, the sanctioned projects will strengthen overall rural connectivity by bridging remote villages with nearby towns and urban centres. Enhanced connectivity is anticipated to facilitate economic growth, promote trade and commerce, and improve livelihood opportunities across the region.
Aligned with the Government of India’s broader vision of a prosperous Northeast and a ‘Viksit Bharat’, the PM-JANMAN road projects are expected to generate employment, stimulate local economies, and empower communities through better mobility and infrastructure.
Officials stated that the initiative will have a transformative impact on Tripura’s tribal belt, reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development in the North-Eastern region.
