3,96,216 rural households in Tripura get tap water under Jal Jeevan Mission

Agartala, Aug 30: As many as 3,96,216 households in rural Tripura have so far been provided free drinking water facility (tap connections) under the Jal jeevan Mission.
Under this scheme, the Tripura government has set a target to provide piped tap water connection to every household by December this year.
A government press release said, 4,891 rural households received the benefit from August 1 to 28 this month.
The tally included 505 households in North Tripura district, 321 in Unakoti district, 459 in Dhalai district, 661 in Khowai district, 698 in West Tripura district, 749 in Sepahijala district, 959 in Gomati district and 539 households in South Tripura district.
According to official sources, the Drinking Water and Sanitation department is working on a mission mode to achieve the target and DWS minister Sushanta Chowdhury is personally monitoring the process.
