Agartala, Sept 06: Tripura government is contemplating a plan to develop four schools as Model Inclusive Schools while another initiative has been taken to introduce 'Mission Mukul'.
The four proposed schools are- Kshudiram Basu English Medium School in West Tripura, Kirit Bikram Institution in Gomati District, Kabi Nazrul Vidyabhavan in Khowai District and Padmapur H.S. School in North Tripura district, said Tripura School Education director Chandni Chandran.
Elaborating the Model Inclusive Schools project, she said, these schools would provide various facilities to the Children with Special Needs so that they can receive education in an inclusive environment along with the other students. Exposure visits have already been conducted at Montfort School, Agartala (Ranirkhamar) and Champaknagar.
Speaking to the media about the achievements and initiatives of School Education department, she also announced that 'Mission Mukul' would be launched in the state.
Mission Mukul is a joint initiative of the School Education department and the Social Welfare and Social Education department; it would focus on the Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) in accordance with the National Education Policy.
Under this scheme, taking topography, communication and other allied factors into consideration, 2-3 AWCs would be tied up with nearby government schools which would be treated as Nodal School for the purpose-- emphasise on pre-school education of the children in the age group of 3-6 years.
In the press conference, the School Education director was accompanied by Secretary of Education department Sharadindu Chowdhury and Higher Education director N.C. Sharma.
She also said, in line with NIPUN Bharat, the School Education department would launch NIPUN Tripura scheme for Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) with focus on the children in 3 to 8 years age groups-- Nursery to Class-III.
The National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) has been launched with priorities and actionable agendas to achieve the goal.
