4 Synthetic Football Turfs to be opened in Tripura soon: Sports minister

Agartala, Aug 11: Four Synthetic Footbal Turfs would soon be inaugurated in Tripura, Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Sushanta Chowdhury said on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference, he said, the four Synthetic Football Turfs at Belonia, Tulakuna at Mohanpur, Umakanta mini stadium in Agartala and S.M Colony at Jirania sub-division would soon be inaugurated in one go in presence of Union Sports minister Anurag Thakur along with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.

Briefing media about various on-going projects under the Sports department, Chowdhury said, apart from the synthetic football turf at Chandrapur in Gomati district, another at Khowai is nearing completion. He said, Jampuijala sub-division would get one more synthetic football turf and the state government also sanctioned three more synthetic football turfs for ADC areas.

Chowdhury also stated that a proposal of Rs. 70 crore for the infrastructural development curriculum activities at Dasharath Dev Stadium has already been sent to the Centre.

The Sports minister added that during his recent visit to the Union Sports Minister, administrative sanction for fund of Rs. 17.5 crore was given. The fund would be utilized for constructing a hockey synthetic turf at Dashrath Dev Stadium in Badharghat, one Athletic Turf at Panisagar and one Football Turf at Jampuijala.  
 
Besides, he also announced that every district would get Multipurpose Indoor Hall for which a team from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) already inspected the proposed sites.

In another important announcement, the Sports minister said that recruitment of 100 Junior Physical Instructors would soon be conducted.

Addressing the press conference, the Sports minister also elaborated the other major initiatives taken in the state under Khelo India and Special Assistance.
