42nd Agartala Book Fair to start on Feb 21, CM chairs preparatory meet

Agartala, Dec 30: The 42nd edition of Agartala Book Fair will commence from February 21 and it will continue till March 5.

The decision was taken in a preparatory meeting on the ensuing Book Fair chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on Saturday evening.

Taking part in the discussion, the Chief Minister laid emphasis on participation of more stalls in the Book Fair from outside Tripura. Besides, he also stressed on purchasing books of local authors officially.

The Chief Minister further asked the organizer to make proper arrangements for uninterrupted power supply, traffic management, sitting for visitors and prevention of sound pollution.

The discussions included various important topics in view of the book lovers, sellers and publishers. 

Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University Prof. Ganga Prasad Prasain, Vice-Chancellor of MBB University Prof. Satyadeo Poddar, Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner Arif Mohammad and others including Secretary of ICA P K. Chakraborty and Director Bimbisar Bhattacharjee were present in the preparatory meeting.

President of Agartala Press Club Jayanta Bhattacharya, representatives of Book Publishers, eminent personalities and others took part in the discussions and placed their suggestions for smooth conduct of the Book Fair.
