
Agartala, May 17: A literary event celebrating research, journalism and constitutional awareness was held at the Agartala Press Club on Sunday as retired Tripura Police officer and author Pranab Sengupta unveiled five of his latest books.
The newly released publications explore diverse themes ranging from criminal investigation to constitutional studies and the role of the media in society.
Senior advocate Purushottam Roy Barman attended the programme as chief guest and spoke about the significance of documenting historical truth and strengthening democratic values through literature.
He emphasised that books dealing with constitutional development, revolutionary movements and legal awareness remain highly relevant in contemporary society.
The event also witnessed the presence of the author’s spouse Purnima Sengupta, literary enthusiasts and cultural figures, including singer Samanta Saha.
Among the books released were two volumes focusing on the Chittagong revolutionary movement during British rule, along with titles centred on constitutional law, criminal investigation procedures and reflections on journalism and contemporary media practices.
Speakers at the programme praised Sengupta’s long-standing contribution to public discourse through his writings, describing his work as a blend of research, administrative experience and social observation.
They noted that literature rooted in factual history and legal understanding can help create greater awareness among younger generations.
Addressing the gathering, the author expressed gratitude to readers and guests for their continued support and said he intends to continue writing on issues related to society, governance, history and public awareness in the future.
The books unveiled included Paradhin Bharatbarser Biplober Peethasthan Chattagram (Vol I and II), Constitution, Criminal Law and Investigation, Investigation and Prosecution, and Smritipote Sangbadpatra (2024-2025).
