50 Kg Yaba tablets seized in North Tripura

Agartala, Sept 16: In a major breakthrough in the fight against drugs, North Tripura district police seized around 50 kg of Yaba tablets in an operation under Panisagar police station on Tuesday night.

The Yaba consignment was seized from a lorry and the driver was arrested in this connection. The market value of seized items is approximately Rs 40 crore, police said.

In a social media post, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha described the seizure as a significant blow to the illicit drug network. 

He said the operation reflects the unwavering commitment of Tripura Police and security forces to combat drug trafficking and protect the younger generation and society from the menace of narcotics.

Dr. Saha also reaffirmed the state government's commitment to building a Neshamukt Tripura stressing the importance of sustained efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb the illegal drug trade.

The seizure is being viewed as a major success in the ongoing crackdown on narcotics trafficking in the state, particularly along routes vulnerable to the movement of illicit drugs.
