Agartala, July 21: Due to the ongoing unrest in neighboring Bangladesh, 690 students have crossed the border through Tripura and returned home over the past two days.
On Sunday alone, 314 students arrived in Tripura through the border checkpost. On Saturday, 376 students entered through the Srimantapur and Agartala Land Custom Stations. This information was shared by IG, BSF Tripura Frontier- Piyush Purushottam Das.
Speaking to the media at the BSF's Salbagan headquarters, the IG reported that among the 314 students who returned on Sunday, 66 are from Nepal. The Border Security Force (BSF) has made comprehensive arrangements for these returning students, including transportation, food packets, and healthcare services.
He also stated that the current law and order situation in Bangladesh poses significant security challenges for the BSF as well as for the border state of Tripura. However, the immediate concern is ensuring the safe return of Indian students.
To address the unrest and violence in Bangladesh, stringent security measures have been implemented along the state’s border. The BSF is maintaining close coordination with the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB).
Due to the suspension of mobile internet services in Bangladesh, parents of Indian students were unable to communicate with their children, leading to significant anxiety. In response, the IG communicated with BGB officials, who took prompt action. For instance, 36 students from Brahmanbaria Medical College were transported by BGB vehicles to the Agartala ICP.
