Agartala, Aug 22: Inspired by ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ mantra of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as many as 860 voters from Tipra Motha, CPI-M and IPFT joined BJP at Majlishpur constituency.
The joining of Janajati voters in such a large number is being considered as a major boost for the ruling BJP as Village Council elections would take place soon.
The voters from six village councils- Uttar Joynagar, Paschim Barjala, Madhavbari, Kaiyachandbari, Bishrambari and Chargharia were welcomed by Information and Cultural Affairs minister Sushanta Chowdhury in presence of other party leaders including Janajati Morcha state president Bikas Debbarma.
After welcoming the newcomers, Chowdhury said, the joining programme poured water on the plots of other parties to create a distance between Janajati people and BJP. He termed it as a ‘clear indication’.
Chowdhury also said that BJP national president J.P. Nadda would address a public rally at TTAADC headquarters- Khumulwng on August 29 and around 30000 to 40000 people are expected to participate in the rally.
