ADC polls: Re-poll in 3 booths on April 16

Agartala, Apr 13: The State Election Commission has ordered re-polling in two more booths under the 10-Kulai-Champhahour (ST) constituency of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), following reports of irregularities during polling.

According to an official directive, fresh voting will be conducted at 3-Bhatimaydan SB School and 17-Ramdev Thakur Para polling stations. The decision was taken after examining detailed reports submitted by the District Election Officer, the Returning Officer and other officials involved in the election process.

The Commission noted that the reports highlighted discrepancies and certain incidents during voting hours that could have compromised the integrity of the electoral process. Taking these findings seriously, the earlier polling in both booths has been cancelled and a re-poll ordered.

Earlier, re-polling had already been announced for one booth in the Pekerjaan-Janmejoynagar constituency on the day of voting. With the latest decision, re-polling will now be held in a total of three booths across the state.

As per the revised schedule, voting will take place on April 16 from 7 am to 4 pm.

Election officials said enhanced security arrangements will be in place to ensure a free, fair and peaceful voting process. Additional forces will be deployed in and around the polling stations to prevent any untoward incidents and to boost voter confidence.

The Commission has appealed to all political parties, candidates and voters to cooperate in maintaining law and order so that the re-polling process is completed smoothly.
