Agartala, June 16: Tripura Minister for Power Ratanlal Nath on Sunday said the additional load in electricity service damages transformers and other equipment, leading to power cuts.
Amid resentment among the people over power outages, he noted that while there is no load-shedding in the state, occasional power cuts occur. He attributed these outages to increased use of refrigerators and air conditioners due to excessive heat, which consumers had not reported.
Nath urged consumers to obtain approval for additional electricity use from the relevant department within the next 10 days. Failure to do so could result in action under sections 163 and 126 of the Indian Electricity Act, he said.
Speaking to the reporters, he assured that the state government is committed to providing uninterrupted electricity service across the state.
Nath highlighted the steps taken to address power-related issues, including the launch of a call center (1912), the Bidyut Bandhu App, and an official website. He emphasized the need to raise public awareness about these facilities.
Nath also announced launch of a new helpline number, 6033132082, for Agartala Circle-I, which will operate 24/7 to promptly address electricity issues. This service is available to consumers in the Banamalipur, Bordowali, IGM, Jogendranagar, Pratapgarh, Amtali, Sekerkote, GB, Capital Complex, and Durjoy Nagar power divisions under Agartala Circle-I.
