After attacking BJP Karyakartas, Tipra Motha workers say 'NO' to PM's Mann Ki Baat in TTAADC

In a major political development ahead of ADC elections, Tipra Motha Party workers on Sunday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' can't be held in Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), according to a BJP leader.

This was stated by BJP state general secretary Bipin Debbarma soon after seven Karyakartas of the party were injured and several vehicles were vandalized during Tipra Motha Party workers' attack when Prime Minister's 'Mann Ki Baat' programme was going on under Asharambari Mandal.

“A group of Tipra Motha goons stormed the venue armed with sharp weapons and country-made firearm while the programme was underway,” Debbarma alleged. “They vandalized several vehicles, including motorcycles, and left seven of our workers injured. Three of them have been referred to GBP Hospital," Debbarma told reporters.

The incident took place at Purba Takchaya ADC village under the Asharambari mandal, where local BJP leaders had arranged to broadcast Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio address. According to Debbarma, the attack was sudden and orchestrated.

What makes the attack even more contentious is that Tipra Motha is currently a partner in the BJP-led government in Tripura, following a post-poll understanding earlier this year. The TMP is now ruling the TTAADC. Despite this alliance, Sunday’s attack raised serious concerns, particularly in TTAADC areas.

Despite being in alliance, the Tipra Motha workers raised slogans that PM Modi's Mann Ki Baat can't be held in the TTAADC areas, he noted.

The matter has been reported to Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and state party president Rajib Bhattacharjee; they would talk to Delhi, Debbarma said.

Demanding strict action against the perpetrators, the BJP leader said such acts of political violence are unacceptable.
