Agartala, May 15: A high-level team from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) visited the Agartala Light House Project and reviewed the progress of construction work, with a strong focus on expediting the completion of the ambitious housing initiative.
The central delegation, led by MoHUA Joint Secretary Kuldip Narayan and Deputy Director General R. K. Gautam, held a detailed review meeting with officials of the Tripura Urban Development Department and project stakeholders at the project site near Border Golchakkar on the outskirts of Agartala.
Senior state officials, including Milind Ramteke and Megha Jain, attended the meeting along with Commissioner of the Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority Mihir Kanti Gope and Managing Director of Mitsumi Housing Pvt. Ltd Ajoy Shah.
Officials discussed timelines and strategies for the early completion of the project, which is considered one of the flagship urban housing initiatives in the Northeast.
According to officials, targets have been fixed for completing Block-A and Block-F before June 15. The construction agency assured the visiting central team that it would comply with the directions issued by the Joint Secretary of MoHUA.
The agency further informed that Block-E and Block-G are expected to be completed by September 30, while work on the remaining blocks would also be expedited for completion at the earliest.
The Agartala Light House Project comprises 1,000 flats spread across seven residential blocks and is being developed using advanced steel construction technology imported from New Zealand.
Officials said the modern technology not only makes the structures earthquake-resistant but also offers better durability, faster construction, and cost-effectiveness compared to conventional building methods.
The Agartala project is among six Light House Projects launched under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi across six states in the country, each showcasing different innovative construction technologies aimed at promoting sustainable and affordable urban housing.
