AGMC & GBP Hospital achieves 4th consecutive kidney transplant success

Agartala, Sept 8: The Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital has added another remarkable chapter to Tripura’s healthcare achievements by successfully completing its fourth consecutive kidney transplant.
The latest surgery was performed on a 23-year-old youth from Rabindra Palli, Mohanpur (Sidhai), who received the precious gift of life from his 45-year-old mother. Demonstrating extraordinary courage and sacrifice, she volunteered to donate her kidney to save her son’s life.
The critical operation was jointly conducted by specialists from AGMC & GBP Hospital and Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, Manipur. Both mother and son are recovering well and are reported to be in stable condition.
The core medical team included Consultant Nephrologists Dr. Manas Ghosh, Dr. Samaresh Pal, Dr. Reshmi Das, and Dr. Udayan Saha from AGMC, along with Transplant Surgeons Dr. Soumorendra Paonam and Dr. Maharabam Mahili from Shija Hospitals. Supporting expertise was provided by Consultant Urologists Dr. Mukut Debnath, Dr. Bijit Lodh, and Dr. Jiban Debnath, as well as anesthesiologists from both institutions.
Behind the scenes, operating theatre nurses, floor nurses, and technicians ensured flawless coordination. The process was closely monitored by transplant coordinator Himadri Kar, with Senior Nursing Officer-in-Charge Tapati Chakraborty leading the nursing support.
With this fourth successful kidney transplant, AGMC & GBP Hospital has reaffirmed its growing capability in advanced medical procedures, bringing hope to patients across the state and beyond.
