Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan:
In a major initiative to bolster agricultural awareness and preparedness ahead of the upcoming Kharif season, Tripura is set to roll out the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan from Thursday.
The Agriculture minister said, this extensive drive is part of a national campaign aimed at transforming agriculture through knowledge, innovation, and grassroots engagement.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will formally inaugurate the state-level launch at Bishramganj, as announced by Nath during the press briefing at the Secretariat.
The campaign will run from May 29 to June 12 and is expected to witness the presence of the Union Agriculture Minister on one of the days.
Highlighting the campaign's objectives, Nath said the drive is designed to inform farmers about various government schemes—both central and state—as well as introduce them to advanced farming techniques, organic cultivation practices, and the latest agricultural technologies.
The campaign will reach 864 locations across Tripura and involve more than 1,72,000 farmers.
To ensure effective implementation, three committees have been constituted for each location. These committees will conduct three meetings daily at every site throughout the campaign period. Each location will also be represented by a progressive farmer to serve as a local champion for agricultural best practices.
Key stakeholders including officials from the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments, Animal Resource Development Department, ICAR, KVK, Agriculture College, Fisheries College, Veterinary College, and agricultural scientists will play active roles in the campaign.
To facilitate outreach, 24 specially-equipped Krishi Raths (mobile agri-awareness vans) will traverse the state, delivering vital information and support directly to farming communities, he mentioned.
