Amidst violence, Manipur govt urges Centre to hand over Unified Command

Amid escalating violence in Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Sunday urged Centre to hand over Unified command to the state government.
The Chief Minister along with his party MLAs including Speaker and cabinet colleagues met Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at Raj Bhavan and submitted an eight-point resolution.
The points in resolution included, centre to ensure peace in the state, Unified Command to be handed over to the State Government, Abrogation of Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki militant groups and completion of border fencing along Indo-Myanmar border among others.
Meanwhile, the Manipur government has declared two-day holiday on Monday and Tuesday for all schools and colleges in the state in view of the deteriorating law and order situation in the State.
The schools and colleges were closed after the incident in Moirang where a civilian was killed in a bomb explosion on Saturday. (Inputs taken from News on AIR)
