Around 208 Tripura students return home safe from Manipur, guardians laud CM’s role

Agartala, May 07: Around 208 students of Tripura who were stranded in Manipur returned home safe following swift decision of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.

The safe return of the students was a major relief for the guardians as they were very much worried about their children in view of the emerging situation in Manipur.

According to official sources, two special flights of carrying around 208 students of Tripura, who were stranded in trouble-torn Manipur, landed at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala over the past 24 hours.

The first batch of students arrived at MBB airport at midnight on Saturday. Minister for Transport Sushanta Chowdhury along with state BJP leaders- Amit Rakshit and Papia Dutta were present at the airport to receive the students.

In a prompt decision, the Chief Minister had arranged the special flights and sent a team to Manipur to bringing back the students. Earlier, Dr. Saha had talked to his Manipur counterpart N. Biren Singh for safety of the state’s students. Dr. Saha also had a telephonic conversation with Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the same matter.

Some of the students, who returned home (Tripura) from Manipur, along with their guardians paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at his official residence this evening.

The students thanked the Chief Minister for his sincere initiatives in arranging special flights for their safe return from Manipur. The guardians also expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for his prompt response in this matter.

“It was beyond our imagination that the Chief Minister would act so fast to bring our children back home. We were very much worried. We are really grateful to the state government, specially to the Chief Minister for his sincere initiative,” a guardian commented.

Arranging special flights, ensuring safety of the students in other state and coordinating them for returning home within a short period was not such an easy task but the state government conducted the process very smoothly.
