Assam Rifles provides medical support in flood-hit Gomati district

Agartala, Aug 28: In the wake of catastrophic floods that severely impacted Tripura, Assam Rifles has stepped up its humanitarian efforts to support the affected communities. The recent deluge has displaced thousands, leading to urgent needs for medical and dental care among the flood victims.
In response to the crisis, Assam Rifles established medical and dental camp at Amarpur Relief Camp in Gomti district on 28 Aug 24. The medical camp in the flood-affected region has been instrumental in offering critical healthcare services, including treatment for waterborne diseases, first aid, and general health check-ups. Additionally, the dental camp has addressed oral health issues exacerbated by the adverse conditions, offering examinations and other necessary dental procedures.
A team comprising of two doctors and medical staff of Assam Rifles alongwith Medical Officer and staff of District Hospital conducted the medical camp thereby benefitting 442 local villagers. Assam Rifles distributed medicines, sanitary pads and hygiene kits to the local population alongwith other relief material. Mr Ranjit, MLA from Amarpur Legislative Assembly also visited the medical camp and appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles.
The initiative is part of Assam Rifles' ongoing commitment to disaster relief and community support. The troops have worked tirelessly to rescue more than 2000 people from flood-hit areas and is committed in rehabilitation of displaced people.
