Agartala, July 29: After the chain of events over the I-PAC team’s alleged detention issue and arrival of some TMC leaders from West Bengal, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has on Thursday eased the situation with his remark “Atithi Devo Bhava”.

Replying to a query, Deb said he doesn’t recall what they did or said to him in West Bengal.

“The people in Tripura have the mentality of Athithi Devo Bhava and the government also functions in this direction.”

“We are Indians and whoever comes to Tripura will be treated as per the belief of 'Athithi Devo Bhava'. However, police will do their work. Neither the government will intervene nor should any other interrupt in it-- Tripura is a bordering state and 15th August is coming nearer as well as Covid restrictions are in place,” Deb stated.

He was addressing the media after inaugurating four envelopes to raise awareness on plantation and bio diversity as part of Van Mahotsav.
