Biplab Deb files nomination for Rajya Sabha bye-poll in Tripura

Agartala, Sept 12: Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has filed his nomination for the bye-election to the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Tripura on Monday.
Accompanied by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik, MP Rebati Tripura, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee and other party leaders, Deb reached the assembly and submitted his nomination.
Before filing the nomination, Deb sought blessings from Satsang Ashram in Agartala.
Speaking to the media, Deb expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence minister Rajnath Singh and BJP national president J.P. Nadda for keeping faith in him.
Deb, who has also been made party’s in-charge of Haryana Pradesh, said he would simultaneously work for both the states- Tripura and Haryana.
Deb said, he would work with the same spirit he maintained during his tenure as the Chief Minister and the BJP state president.
The former Chief Minister has been named as the party’s candidate for Rajya Sabha bye-poll on Friday night. He was appointed as BJP in-charge of Haryana Pradesh on the same day.
The bye-election to the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Tripura is scheduled to be held on September 22 next. While BJP fielded Deb as the candidate, Bhanulal Saha has been made the Left front candidate for the bye-poll. (Courtesy Tripura Times)
