
Agartala, July 20: Kishore Barman, who played an important role in BJP’s rise in North Bengal, has now arrived in Tripura to work for the party.
Barman, who is the son of the soil, was appointed as general secretary soon after his arrival in the state. Earlier, he worked in various roles including national general secretary of ABVP.
“I have been entrusted with the responsibility in my favourite position—booth level work. I am feeling good with the new responsibility and the new challenge. Now, I have the opportunity to work in my own state under the guidance of the party's senior leaders,” Barman told the media in his reaction after arriving in the state.
Barman said he would continue to work to strengthen the party base at booth level.
Hailing from Nalchar of Sepahijala district, Barman completed his Masters Degree in Bengali from Tripura University. He worked as a dedicated Karyakarta of the BJP in and outside the state. He returned to Tripura after long 14 years.
It was on July 8 last, BJP national president J.P. Nadda in a tweet had announced the Barman’s new responsibility in Tripura.
Nadda in his tweet had said that Barman had performed his responsibility in various positions with full devotion. Now, he would work for the party in Tripura.
Dr. Manik Saha, president of BJP Tripura unit, said that he had appointed Barman as general secretary. Expressing hope, Dr. Saha said that Barman would be able to work to take the party to new heights since he holds a strong background in terms of organizational works.
Meanwhile, before leaving West Bengal for Tripura on Monday, Barman met senior BJP leader and former Governor of Tripura Tathagata Roy and took some tips.
