East Tripura BJP MP Kriti Singh Debbarma and a Tipra Motha Party (TMP) delegation led by Pradyot Kishore Debbarma pressed for implementation of the Tiprasa Accord in New Delhi on Thursday.
The delegation met Union Health Minister and BJP national president J.P. Nadda and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, where discussions reportedly centred around the long-pending issues of tribal development, electoral roll revision (SRI), and other topics.
Reportedly, the deliberations also included fast-tracking the execution of the Tiprasa Accord, a political understanding signed to safeguarding the rights of Tripura’s indigenous communities. Both sides emphasized the need for administrative and developmental clarity to fulfill the spirit of the accord.
In their discussion with Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, the delegation focused on accelerating central schemes and developmental initiatives targeted at tribal welfare in the state.
The delegation also raised concerns over regional security, citing recent developments in neighbouring Bangladesh and alleged persecution of minorities.
TMP leaders including Minister Animesh Debbarma, Minister of State Brishaketu Debbarma, and MLA Ranjit Debbarma were part of the team.
