There is no alternative of blood; the demand for blood can only be fulfilled through blood donation, said Tripura Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury.

“Blood donation not only saves lives, but also benefits the donor's body. Blood donation is greatest service to humankind,” Chowdhury said after inaugurating a blood donation camp organized at Bishalgarh sub-division in Sepahijala district on Wednesday.

The blood donation camp was organized by initiative of Champamura School Management Committee and Champamura Higher Secondary School at the school premises.

The ICA Minister gave away medals to two meritorious students in the programme for their outstanding performance in the examinations conducted by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education.

Chowdhury along with the other guests present in the programme planted tree saplings at the school campus. 

Sabhadhipati of Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Supriya Das Dutta, social worker Gouranga Bhowmik, Sepahijala District Education Officer Habul Lodh, social worker Sudhir Choudhury and chairman of Champamura Higher Secondary School Management Committee Biplab Ghosh were present.

The program was presided over by Champamura Gram Panchayat Pradhan Ashtami Das while the welcome address was delivered by Headmaster of Champamura Higher Secondary School Samir Choudhury.
