Agartala, Mar 08: Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, Tripura has been witnessing an unprecedented transformation.
Dr. Saha-led government in Tripura in second term (since March 8, 2023) celebrating its second anniversary on Saturday-- here are the key achievements to know.
The BJP-led government has propelled the state towards holistic development, bridging urban-rural disparities and implementing progressive policies that uplift every stratum of society.
With a strong commitment to social welfare, the Tripura CM’s administration prioritized essential services and financial support for the underprivileged. Over 3.08 lakh metric tonnes of ration were distributed free of cost to 6.08 lakh families under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, ensuring food availability for the needy.
“The government facilitated the construction of 1,83,461 pucca houses for economically weaker sections under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Through the Jal Jeevan Mission, 1,81,177 households gained access to pure drinking water, enhancing sanitation and hygiene. A direct financial assistance of Rs 287.16 crore was extended to 2,39,875 farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana,” said an official.
He further stated that since 2023, around 81,344 families have benefitted from free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, reducing dependence on traditional fuels.
“A remarkable 20.56 lakh beneficiaries were enrolled under Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, and Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana, ensuring quality healthcare. Over 4.30 lakh individuals availed health insurance benefits. The government procured 53,908 metric tonnes of paddy at Minimum Support Price, ensuring fair returns to farmers. The construction of 42,512 individual household toilets and 436 community toilets strengthened the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,” said the official.
The official added that, as per the Chief Minister’s directive, no household should be left without electricity. Consequently, power connections were extended to 42,393 households, significantly enhancing living standards.
“As CM Dr. Saha has stressed on women’s empowerment, around 1,19,986 women became self-reliant through 9,066 self-help groups under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Livelihood Mission,” the official noted.
Apart from this, the 72nd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Regional Council was hosted in Agartala, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, marking a milestone for regional cooperation.
“Several initiatives were undertaken by CM Dr. Saha, including the Mukhyamantri Samipesu initiative, launched on April 12, 2023, which created a direct platform for citizens to voice their concerns and receive quick resolutions. Fifty-one kilometers of National Highway were constructed, enhancing connectivity and boosting trade. The modernization of Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport improved air travel facilities and regional accessibility. A transparent recruitment policy saw 5,972 regular government posts filled, with an additional 8,252 positions in the pipeline. The launch of the New Industrial Policy and Start-up Policy 2024 fostered entrepreneurship and economic inclusivity,” the official stated.
The official further highlighted that after assuming the charge of Education Minister, Dr. Saha has taken significant strides in education and tourism.
“The implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) elevated learning outcomes. Initiatives such as providing free scooties to college-going girls encouraged higher education among women. Enhanced tourism infrastructure led to a substantial rise in visitors, positively impacting the economy,” the official added.
The state has also taken progressive measures to uplift marginalized communities and ensure inclusivity.
The official further informed that extensive projects were aimed at the socio-economic advancement of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, OBCs, and minorities.
“This directive came from CM Dr. Saha regarding the resettlement of Bru families under the Quadrilateral Agreement, ensuring housing, employment, and free rations. Additionally, strengthening law and order with an intensified anti-drug campaign yielded significant breakthroughs. He has instructed Tripura Police to work efficiently in this regard. Furthermore, the introduction of the Divyangjan Empowerment Policy ensured financial assistance and social inclusion for differently-abled individuals. For the first time in Tripura’s history, an official state logo was introduced, symbolizing its unique identity. The per capita income surged to ₹1,77,723 in 2023-24 from ₹1,13,016 in 2018-19, indicating robust economic growth. Sports infrastructure was enhanced, enabling the successful hosting of national-level competitions. Flood relief efforts in 2024 ensured swift assistance and rehabilitation for affected citizens,” the official said.
The government official concluded that, with numerous national awards recognizing the state’s achievements, the government continues to drive Tripura towards a brighter and more prosperous future.
