BSF detains 14 B’deshi nationals in Tripura

Agartala, Sept 01: As the Border Security Force (BSF) strengthened its efforts in Tripura to prevent illegal infiltration, 14 Bangladeshi nationals were detained from three locations on Sunday.

Five Indian touts, who were facilitating the cross-border movements of the Bangladeshi nationals, were also detained.

The BSF personnel stationed at Bhaithanbari Border Outpost (BOP) in North Tripura district intercepted five individuals from Bangladesh, including four women, attempting to breach the border fence and enter India. The detained individuals are from Khulna and Dhaka districts of Bangladesh.

In a separate mission, the BSF from Belonia BOP in South Tripura District caught two Bangladeshi nationals trying to exit India through an unprotected riverine area. They were aided by three Indian touts, who were also detained. The apprehended Bangladeshis are residents of Noakhali district.

In another operation, the BSF troops at Bhatiabari BOP in Karbook under Gomati district detained seven more Bangladeshi nationals, including five women and a child. Two suspected Indian facilitators were also detained.
