BSF extends support to flood-affected people in Tripura

Agartala, Aug 23 (PIB): Displaying humanitarian spirit during the challenging time emerging out from the severe floods in Tripura, BSF apart from engaging troops in rescue of affected people, have come forward in extending yeoman service.

On this line, BSF personnel distributed drinking water to villagers in border areas in Dhalai district during last two days. A BSF statement said the people of the bordering villages under Dhalai district have been worst affected by floods.

The border guard BSF also assisted in the protection of livestock of the villagers on request of the local population of Lathiapura and Rangauti and in consultation with  the district magistrate of Unakoti district.

According to the statement, the villagers were allowed to tie around 200 cattle ahead of the fence on high ground for grazing as there was no alternative feed available for the cattle, which  otherwise is not allowed.

In another instance, BSF provided vehicles for timely evacuation of families from flood affected areas along with their belongings and livestock to safer places in border areas of Raishyabari under Dhalai district.

BSF is not only the 1st line of defense but also the first responder to any natural calamity in the border belt. BSF is making all efforts for the rescue and assistance of the border population badly affected by floods.
