BSF foils infiltration bid, detains 7 Bangladeshis

Agartala, Aug 19: Based on specific information, the Border Security Force detained seven Bangladeshi nationals when they were trying to cross the border fencing near Harnakhola BOP under Sidhai police station.

The BSF party was deployed in the area that falls under West Tripura district soon after the secret inputs were received in the night intervening 18th & 19th August.

In the preliminary interrogation, it has been revealed that two of the apprehended Bangladeshi nationals are residents of Moulvibazar and the other five Bangladeshi nationals including one woman and child are residents of Brahmanbaria. 

The troops also recovered about 1.5 lakhs Bangladeshi Taka and 300 US dollars from the possession of the apprehended persons.

In another operation on specific information one Indian national was apprehended in the area of Mantoli border outpost under Amtali Police station in West Tripura and 14 small packets of suspected brown sugar were recovered from his possession. 

On further interrogation, 1000 Yaba tablets were recovered from a culvert near Nischintpur bridge.
 
In a separate operation, BSF troops seized a huge quantity of Ganja and 1.75 ton of Sugar, according a press statement from BSF, Tripura Headquarters. 

The BSF in Tripura reiterated intensified operation and domination on the border to thwart any attempt of infiltration and to prevent trans-border crimes.
