BSF seized gold items worth Rs 1.72 crore in Tripura

Agartala, Dec 05: In a significant operation toward cracking down on smuggling activities across the Indo-Bangla border, the Border Security Force has seized gold items worth ₹ 1.72 crore from the NC Nagar locality of Sonamura in Sepahijala district of Tripura.
Talking to reporters, the second-in-command of 81 battalion of BSF, Rajesh Kumar Langeh said that the 2.177 kg gold items which includes, Gold biscuit, gold bar and gold nuts were seized in an operation last evening.
Incidentally, no person was arrested in this incident as the smugglers fled from the spot by taking advantage of the terrain and dense vegetation after noticing the BSF personnel approaching towards them abandoning the smuggled gold.
Langeh said that the information has been gathered about the smugglers and soon the arrest would be made.
