Agartala, May 22: At Sepahijala zoo in Tripura, the wild has whispered again — and the forest listens with joy.
On May 11, this year, three tiger cubs were born in the Sepahijala zoo. “The mother is doing well, and so are her little ones," said Director of Sepahijala Zoological Park Biswajit Das.
He said a proposal would soon be sent to the head office for naming the three new guests.
He also said, the newborns are now under surveillance of expert doctors. Once green signal is received from them, the visitors would be able to meet the three cubs.
The proud mother, a majestic tigress introduced to Sepahijala in February 2024 through a carefully planned animal exchange programme, brought forth the cubs in a completely natural process. No human touch disturbed the sacred rhythm of nature; it was the forest’s own secret blooming again.
“This is the first time in our zoo’s history that a tigress has given birth to three healthy cubs at once,” said Das with his voice alight with quiet pride.
When the new pair arrived at the zoo, hope stirred and nature moved at its own pace. The tigress is being given enriched nutrition, infused with vital supplements — not just for her strength, but to ensure the cubs, through her, receive all they need to thrive.
The zoo team is sparing no effort to keep the mother and the little ones comforted, strong, and undisturbed.
These three tiny cubs, eyes still adjusting to light, have become the living symbols of hope, resilience, and the quiet power of nature when left to her own rhythm.
Chief Minister of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday shared the exciting news on his social media handle.
"Let's give a warm welcome to these little bundles of joy & wish them a safe & thriving life in the wild", he wrote.
