Cameroon national detained near Agartala Railway Station for illegal entry

Agartala, Mar 27: Amtali police detained a Cameroon national from the vicinity of Agartala Railway Station on Thursday for allegedly entering India illegally through Bangladesh.
The accused has been identified as Austin Ayuk Etta, a resident of Cameroon. Acting on suspicion, a team from Amtali Police Station intercepted him while he was reportedly preparing to board a train.
Confirming the detention, Amtali Police Station OC Paritosh Das said the individual failed to produce any valid travel or identity documents during questioning. Following this, he was taken into custody for further investigation.
Police said the accused will be produced before a local court on Friday, seeking a five-day police remand for detailed interrogation.
A case has been registered against him under Section 61(ii)(a) and 143(ii) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 21 and 23 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act.
The OC said further questioning is underway to determine whether the detainee has any links with illegal networks or other suspicious activities.
