North Tripura district has been awarded for Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari– 'Catch The Rain' campaign.

The North Tripura district has been declared the winner in the North East and Hilly States category by the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

Chandni Chandran, the District Magistrate, and her team presented their work in a recent Video Conference with Union Minister of Jal Shakti C.R. Patil.

During the campaign, 11,229 structures were created or made functional for water storage and groundwater recharge across the district, according to official sources.

Notably, rainwater harvesting and recharge structures have been installed in all Gram Panchayats and Village Council buildings in the district. 

Besides, the Vanghmun Gram Panchayat under the Jampui Hills RD block has become the first panchayat in the region where all houses have been equipped with rainwater harvesting structures.

The North Tripura district will receive prize money of Rs. 2 crore for this exemplary work, according to an update from the official handle of the district administration.
