Agartala, Aug 10: A high-level delegation from the Central government on Monday inspected Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Agartala Civil Hospital to review its healthcare infrastructure and services.

The visit comes as the Tripura government continues to focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving the quality of medical services across the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.

The Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Agartala Civil Hospital was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Manik on July 12 last.

The hospital currently has five specialist departments — Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Medicine, Dermatology, Paediatrics and Ophthalmology. Dental services and facilities for various blood tests are also available.

According to officials, the hospital is fully air-conditioned and provides paperless services. The facility has reportedly been drawing increasing interest from patients and the general public.

The visiting delegation included National Health Authority (NHA) CEO Dr Sunil Kumar Banwal, NHM Deputy Secretary Dr Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Ayushman Bharat CEO and State Mission Director G. Sharath Naik, NHM Tripura Mission Director Saju Vahid A, and IGM Hospital Superintendent Dr Nirmal Sarkar, among other officials.

During the inspection, the officials reviewed various aspects of service delivery across the hospital, including the Outpatient Department (OPD), Inpatient Department (IPD), Emergency Unit, wards and medical store.

The inspection was aimed at assessing the hospital's existing infrastructure and healthcare services.
