Centre approves Agartala- Chittagong flight service: Pranajit

Agartala, Sept 23: Tripura Transport minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Friday informed the Assembly that the central government had already approved operation of international flights connecting Agartala with Chittagong in Bangladesh.
He also said, the Tripura government in a letter to the centre proposed to announce MBB Airport of Agartala as an international airport.
He was taking part in the discussion on a private member resolution moved by MLA Mimi Majumder on the first day of the assembly session.
Sharing more details, the Transport minister said, the Ministry of Civil Aviation on September 19 last assigned private airline service provider- SpiceJet for operating international flights in the proposed route.
He also informed the House that the state government had already approved Viable Gap Funding (VGF) of Rs. 15 crore for the service.
The Transport minister expressed home in the House saying that the air connectivity between Agartala and Chittagong would be established soon.
