Agartala, June 2: Chitta Maharaj, recipient of prestigious Padma Shri award, is now under treatment at GBP hospital, Agartala. He has been hospitalized recently following some health issues.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday evening paid a visit to ailing Chitta Maharaj of Shantikali Ashram and inquired about his present health condition.
Dr. Saha had been unable to meet Chitta Maharaj since he was out of the state. But, he kept on receiving updates from the doctors.
The Chief Minister earlier instructed the medical superintendent of the GBP hospital to ensure that Maharaj receives the best possible care.
Upon returning to the state on Sunday, Dr. Saha immediately visited the hospital along with the health officials. He was accompanied by Medical Superintendent Dr. Shankar Chakraborty, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Kanak Chowdhury, and other senior doctors.
The Chief Minister gathered detailed information about treatment from the attending doctors as well as spoke to Maharaj himself.
Meanwhile, as part of his visit to the GBP hospital on Sunday, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inquired about the condition of a PG student who came under attack by a group of miscreants in the hospital premises.
The student hails from Karnataka and is currently studying at Agartala Government Medical College.
Dr. Saha met the injured student in the GBP Hospital and asked the health officials to ensure that the student receives proper medical attention.
Later speaking to the media, Dr. Saha informed that police had already taken legal action regarding the attack, arresting one of the accused.
He assured that all involved in the incident would be swiftly apprehended and brought to justice, emphasizing that the law would take its course.
