CM reviews progress of Agartala Govt Dental College after its first academic year

Agartala, Sept 02: After the first academic year of Agartala Government Dental College, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday took a comprehensive review of the college's progress.

The meeting held in the Chief Minister’s War Room at the Tripura Institution for Transformation, focused on appointment of faculty and technician, infrastructure development and others relevant issues.

Dr. Saha discussed key areas of the college’s development, including the construction of a 250-bed hostel for male and female students, initiatives to support economically weaker students, and the provision of a dental van for the college. 

He emphasized the importance of adhering to the Dental Council of India (DCI) guidelines in every matter, stressing that compliance is vital for the institution's growth and accreditation.

The Chief Minister also highlighted mandatory requirement of PRTC for recruitment in various positions at the college. However, he mentioned that in case of non-availability of qualified candidates within the state, the PRTC requirement could be reconsidered.

The meeting featured a detailed presentation on the academic and infrastructural progress of the Agartala Government Dental College by Health Secretary Kiran Gitte.

Key attendees included Dr. Shalu Rai, Principal of Agartala Government Dental College; Dr. Tapan Majumdar, Acting Principal of Agartala Government Medical College; Dr. Sanjib Debbarma, Director of Tripura Health Services; Dr. Sankar Chakraborty, Medical Superintendent of GBP Hospital; and Rajiv Debbarma, Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department.
