Country makes unprecedented progress under PM Modi’s leadership: MoS

Agartala, Sept 26: The country has made unprecedented progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said on Tuesday.

She said, once neglected, the north-eastern states including Tripura also witnessed huge progress since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister.

The union minister chaired a meeting with the officials concerned in Agartala and reviewed the status of various centrally sponsored schemes in the state.

Later speaking to the media at the conference hall of the West Tripura District Magistrate’s office, the union minister said, the state had received a total of Rs. 4,558 crore under MGNREGA between 2006 and 2013-14 and a total of 1,04,970 houses were constructed under Indira Awaas Yojana during the same period.

She said, the fund allocation for Tripura under MGNREGA had almost doubled—Rs. 8,351 crore since 2014, when Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister. Besides, 2,94,911 houses were constructed in the state over the past nine years.

Special Secretary to Rural Development department Sandeep R. Rathod and West Tripura District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan were also present in the press conference.

The Union Minister of State was visibly satisfied with the status of various central schemes being implemented in Tripura.
