Criminal Law Reforms: Tripura CM to attend HM Amit Shah's meeting in Guwahati

Agartala, Mar 11: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is set to attend a high-level meeting in Guwahati on March 16, where discussions will focus on the implementation of three newly introduced criminal laws.

The meeting, to be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, will bring together key stakeholders to deliberate on the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)—a legal framework aimed at modernizing the country’s criminal justice system.

In view of the upcoming discussions, the Tripura Chief Minister recently held a review meeting in Agartala, assessing Tripura’s readiness for the transition to these new laws.

Senior officials from the Home Department, Police, Law, Prosecution, Forensic, Health, and Prison departments participated in the meeting, ensuring a comprehensive approach to the state’s adaptation to the new laws.

The reforms, designed to streamline judicial processes and enhance security measures, mark a significant shift in India’s legal landscape, with Tripura actively gearing up for a smooth implementation.
