Agartala, May 18: The donation boxes and chests of the revered Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur under Gomati district of Tripura were opened on Monday after nearly three months, drawing attention not only for the huge offerings received from devotees but also for a heartfelt contribution made by a youth, who recently joined CRPF.
A total of 16 donation boxes and chests installed inside the temple premises were opened in the morning, and the counting process continued throughout the day till evening under strict administrative supervision and security arrangements.
One incident during the counting process particularly touched the hearts of devotees and officials alike. CRPF jawan Buddhadeb Das donated his entire first month’s salary of Rs 33,310 at the feet of Goddess Tripura Sundari as an offering. His selfless gesture created an atmosphere of deep emotion and admiration among those present at the temple.
According to official sources, apart from Indian currency, several foreign currencies were also recovered from the donation boxes, highlighting the temple’s growing international appeal among tourists and pilgrims. The foreign currencies included US Dollars, Saudi and Kuwaiti Dinars, Nepali currency, and Bangladeshi Taka.
To ensure a smooth and transparent counting process, the Gomati district administration had formed a special 16-member team. Intermittent rainfall caused temporary disruptions to the process.
Deputy Collector Chandrashekhar Chattopadhyay stated that the entire process was conducted under strict monitoring and security. Temple authorities informed that the donated funds would be utilised for various developmental works, including renovation and maintenance of the temple, conducting religious rituals, and improving facilities for devotees.
