Agartala, Sept 30: In a fresh push to connect rural youth with industry-driven skills and employment opportunities, the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has sanctioned 17 projects under the second phase of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY 2.0).

An MoU-signing programme to formalise the projects was organised at Pragya Bhavan here on Wednesday in the presence of TRLM Chief Executive Officer Tarit Kanti Chakma. The programme was also attended by the Additional CEO and Chief Operating Officer (Skills) of TRLM, along with District Mission Coordinators and Block Project Managers from different parts of the state.

Representatives of all 13 Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs), including their project heads, directors and chief executive officers, took part in the signing ceremony.

The newly approved projects are designed around job roles with demand across several sectors, including healthcare, retail, tourism and hospitality, electrical services, information technology, solar energy, warehousing and home-appliance services.

Among the courses to be offered are training for Telehealth Services Coordinators, Cosmetologists, Warehouse Executives, Multi-Skill Technicians for Home Appliances, Retail Sales Assistants, Solar Lighting Assemblers, Tourism and Hospitality Counter Sales Executives, Receptionists, Retail Sales Executives and Guest Service Associates in Food and Beverage.

The programme will also cover trades such as Assistant Electrician, Field Technician for Computing and Peripherals and Solar PV Module Manufacturing Technician.

Training centres will be operational at several locations in Agartala, besides centres at Udaipur in Gomati district, Kolkata and Guwahati. The training programmes are scheduled to begin from October 2026.

Officials said the initiative is aimed at giving rural youth access to structured training aligned with current industry requirements, thereby improving their chances of securing sustainable employment. The programme is also expected to widen opportunities for candidates seeking jobs both within Tripura and outside the state.

Through DDU-GKY 2.0, TRLM is seeking to strengthen the link between rural livelihood development, skill training and placement opportunities. The initiative places emphasis on market-oriented training to help young people build sustainable careers and move towards greater economic self-reliance.
