Agartala, Sept 14: Trinamool Congress (TMC) rescheduled Abhishek Banerjee's protest rally in Agartala on September 22 as the party was denied permission twice for the protest programme on September 15 and 16.
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said the party would move the court if permission is not granted for September 22. He said the route from Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan to Orient Chowmuhani would remain the same and the Padayatra would commence at 2 pm.
Ghosh, accompanied by Sushmita Dev and other party leaders, was addressing a press conference at a city hotel on Tuesday.
Ghosh said, earlier the Padayatra of Abhishek Banerjee was scheduled on September 15 and then on September 16 but police denied giving permission for both the dates.
While permission was already granted for a mass rally to another political party on September 15, the police denied giving permission for September 16 also citing traffic management, as the Viswakarma Puja on the next day, as well as law and order situation.
He said the TMC then sought permission for September 16 but police didn't grant permission citing commitments for traffic management and law and order as Viswakarma Puja to be celebrated in large-scale across the state on the next day.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress leader Sushmita Dev recently said that the party aimed at inducting at least 33-50 percent women in the organization at every level.
Dev was speaking to the media following a workers’ meeting of the Tripura Pradesh Mahila Trinamool Congress in Agartala.
Dev said women have a separate vote bank and in Tripura, around 49 percent of the total population is women as per the census of 2011.
