Agartala, June 25: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday launched several development projects in Sepahijala district, reaffirming the government's commitment to extending infrastructure and public services to every section of society, from urban areas to remote rural and hilly areas.
During a programme in the district, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 20 projects under the Revenue, Health and Education departments involving over Rs 65.40 crore.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said the government's primary objective is to improve the quality of life of citizens through sustained development and better socio-economic opportunities. He noted that development initiatives are being implemented uniformly across the state and as a result, development is reaching every corner of the state.
The Chief Minister said the latest projects form part of a broader development drive being carried out across Tripura. He revealed that projects worth nearly Rs 1,500 crore have been inaugurated or launched by him in different districts since the previous financial year.
According to Dr. Saha, the newly launched projects are expected to strengthen healthcare, education and administrative infrastructure in Sepahijala district while creating long-term benefits for local residents.
Linking the state's development efforts with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister said Tripura is working towards transforming its Aspirational District and Blocks into Inspirational District and Blocks. He added that the state's governance reforms and citizen-centric initiatives have earned widespread recognition, with Tripura receiving more than 350 awards at national and regional forums.
Dr. Saha further said that large-scale investments and infrastructure expansion are creating new economic opportunities in the state. Improved connectivity, administrative reforms and investor-friendly policies have helped Tripura attract significant private investment in recent years.
He informed that investment proposals worth over Rs 30,000 crore have been signed through various memorandums of understanding last year, while implementation work for projects worth nearly Rs 8,000 crore has already begun. The Chief Minister also pointed out that capital expenditure in the state budget has risen substantially, touching nearly Rs 10,000 crore this fiscal year.
The programme was attended by Sepahijala Zilla Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta, MLAs Sushanta Deb and Antara Sarkar Deb, Sepahijala District Magistrate Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal, along with senior officials and public representatives.
Among the projects, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of 100-bed Sepahijala District Hospital and inaugurated the 24x7 emergency and IPD services at the Lalsinghmura Primary Health Centre. At the same time, he virtually inaugurated various projects in Sepahijala district.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is implementing various projects for the welfare of the people of the state.
“To provide better health services to the people of the state, the number of beds in GBP Hospital has been increased from 727 to 1413. The number of beds in Gomati District Hospital has been doubled. A cardiac care unit has been started in Ambassa. People in the state are getting better treatment opportunities under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. An expenditure of Rs 300 crore has been made on it. People in the state have received medical services worth Rs 41.74 crore under the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana,” said Dr Saha.
The Chief Minister said that a 100-bed eye hospital is being built near ILS Hospital. Initiatives have also been taken to set up a Homeopathy College and an Ayurvedic Medical College.
“Telemedicine services have also been started for the welfare of the people of the state. Trauma centres have been started in all the districts of the state. Tripura is ranked second among the states of the North-East in terms of GSDP and per capita income. NITI Aayog has declared Tripura a front-runner state,” he said.
MLA Tafazzal Hossain, MLA Manab Debbarma, MLA Bishwajit Kalai, MLA Subodh Debbarma, Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajib Sutradhar, ADM Subhash Dutta, Sepahijala District CMO Dr. Debashish Das, along with public representatives and officials of various departments were also present.
