DM refuses to meet Tipra Motha supremo: Tripura CM seeks report

Agartala, May 26: Chief Minister of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha has sough a report on the allegations levelled against Gomati District Magistrate Tarit Kanti Chakma that he had refused to meet Tipra Motha supremo and an elected public representative Pradyot Kishore Debbarma.
Dr. Saha, who returned from Delhi on Monday, held a discussion with the Chief Secretary on the issue and sought a detailed report.
While the District Magistrate's refusal to meet Pradyot Kishore Debbarma invited widespread reactions from political circle, the common people flooded social media in support of the DM.
Around 10 PM on Sunday night, the Tipra Motha supremo went to meet the District Magistrate at the later's official residence in Udaipur. But Chakma reportedly refused to meet by maintaining official protocol.
The Tipra Motha supremo said, he wanted to meet the civil servant to draw his attention towards some issues related to some public issues of Ampi and other parts that fall under the latter’s jurisdiction. He also alleged that the DM was not responding to his phone calls.
On Monday, the supporters of Tipra Motha Party—especially its youth arm the YTF (Youth Tipra Federation)— sought to draw public sympathy for their supremo—Pradyot Kishore Debbarma over the issue.
The Tipra Motha’s youth verbally targeted the District Magistrate. In Udaipur, a group of journalists was misbehaved by the YTF leaders for not attaching the prefix of Maharaj while pronouncing the name of Pradyot Kishore Debbarma.
