DM’s hands-on cleanliness drive at Anganwadi Centre draws praise in Tripura's Khowai

Khowai, Dec 08: A simple yet powerful gesture by Khowai District Magistrate Rajat Pant has struck a chord with residents, after he personally joined a cleanliness drive at an Anganwadi Centre on Monday, turning an ordinary inspection into an inspiring civic message.

While reviewing services at the Lalcherra Shishu Tirtha Anganwadi Centre, Panth noticed the need for improved sanitation. Without hesitation, he picked up cleaning tools and scrubbed the toilet himself, demonstrating how leadership and accountability must begin on the ground.

The District Magistrate’s unexpected action left a deep impression on Anganwadi workers and locals, many of whom said that seeing a senior official take up cleaning duties shattered long-held stereotypes about administrative hierarchy.

Residents said the incident served as a timely reminder about the importance of proper hygiene in child-focused institutions, where sanitation directly affects health and learning conditions.

Community members and staff later pledged to maintain cleanliness with renewed dedication, noting that such real-life examples from top officials encourage people to take ownership of public facilities.

Local stakeholders have also urged citizens across the district to adopt similar responsibility-driven habits to ensure cleaner neighbourhoods and healthier environments for children.
