

Agartala, Aug 18: Massive protests continued across Tripura on Sunday following rape and murder of the lady doctor at R.G. Kar hospital premises in Kolkata.
Be it the medical fraternity, political spectrum, students, social organisations or common people, the voice for justice to the victim was echoed by the protestors all over the state.
A large group of students hit the streets in Agartala against the brutal rape and murder of the trainee doctor.
The women wing of Pradesh Congress also joined the movement and held a candle march on Sunday evening and raised voice against the sensational incident occurred in R G. Kar hospital in Kolkata.
Another group of students from different schools and colleges joined the protest demanding justice to the victim and stern action against the culprits involved in the incident. They gathered at Agartala City Centre and held a candle march in the city. They raised demand for safe environment for women at workplaces.
The other group of youths including children hit the streets in Agartala on Sunday and pressed for self-defence training programme for children in schools and colleges and other educational institutions.
The members of Bullet Club, Teliamura also joined the movement against the rape and murder of the lady doctor. They demanded stringent punishment for the accused persons involved in the heinous crime.
While the villagers of Rajnagar in Udaipur Sub-Division held a candle march, the doctors along with other medical staff and locals of Kumarghat held a mass protest on Sunday, demanding capital punishment for the culprits involved in the killing of the lady doctor.
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held a protest at Kanchanpur demanding justice for the victim of RGKar hospital incident.
A similar candle march and protest was held at Churaibari on Sunday to protest against crimes against women.
In Agartala, a candlelight protest against violence on women was organized at College Tilla, Lake Side, by Fitness Explosion Gym in collaboration with Lions Club of Agartala Anish and Hub of Fitness Gym.
The event saw active participation from local residents, who united in a peaceful demonstration to demand enhanced safety and security for women in the region.
The protest, which drew a substantial crowd, emphasized the urgent need for society to recognize the collective responsibility of protecting women.
Participants carried placards with messages advocating for women's safety and chanted slogans urging authorities to take stronger measures against gender-based violence. They urged justice for rape victims and a safe society for everyone.
